BEDREST - it ain't just a capital in Hungary!

Ok, so I was reaching with the headline (a play on Budapest - get it??). But I've got to keep my sense of humor! Everything's fine with me and the baby. On Tuesday when I went in for my normal appointment, my blood pressure was a little on the high side. They did a bunch of blood work and monitoring and found that I'm doing great & so is the baby. However, they want me to take it easy until she's born so that my blood pressure doesn't spike. I've been on bed rest since then. Our next appointment is Monday afternoon. There's been talk of inducing, but I told the doctor that as long as I'm not in danger and the baby's not in danger, I'd rather wait. He agrees. So now it's just a waiting game........

IT'S A SHOWER!

They threw me a shower at work today. It was sooooo fun! I walked in the room and saw that Mike's artwork graced the white boards. He drew a huge picture of a giant baby, and the bib said, "Property of Dunder Mifflin." He knows me too well. Then, he graced us with an original song. Just him, his voice, & his guitar. The words were the perfect mesh of humorous and touching.

There was a schedule for the shower that included a lecture by an associate, Dr. Sherry C. The topic was "How to Make a Baby." I told Irene I must have shown up late because I missed the lecture. She goes, "It only took one minute." I HAD to reply with "That's what she said" as an homage to The Office, Kelly, and Joelf!

After being serenaded, we dug into the wonderful food. There were salads and veggie trays and meat/cheese trays and hummus and brie trays and and and. It was all soooo good. Mindy and Irene did a wonderful job planning. They got me a beautiful and delicious carrot cake from Costco. As we ate, everyone told their "horror" stories (and good ones too) about birth. Thanks, everyone! Then I opened gifts. Man, they blessed me. They did a money tree. I also got a lot of gift cards, a couple of outfits, a couple of toys, some items off our registry, and a beautiful crocheted blanket. We were there for about an hour and fun was had by all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

GETTING READY......

Only 27 more days??!! How did THAT happen? Last night, Joelf came over and finished the "nursery space" as I'm affectionately calling it. It looks soooooo cute! But not TOO cute, if you know what I mean. I started to take pictures of it this afternoon, only to discover that our camera has broken. Ugh. NOT good timing. A friend is taking a look at it to see if it can be fixed, but it's not looking positive. Know anyone who wants to unload their digital camera?

On Wednesday night, I had my first baby shower. It was incredible! There were 15-20 people there. Kell and Amy did a FABULOUS job planning and hosting. We did 3 LOW-KEY games (thank you), everyone filled out "words of wisdom" cards and Kell put them in a beautiful book, the food was great. I could go on and on. The best part was that I felt the love of our church. Most of the attendees were from our church. I didn't grow up in church so I didn't know what to expect. These women blessed me with their laughter, their gifts, their wisdom, and their support. I will never forget it.

This week, there's a shower at work on Wednesday. I'm so excited! Then, a week from today, there's another shower. Wow. How do I feel? Overwhelmed, humbled, touched, grateful.
