I just weighed myself and I'm at 299.4. Ho hum. I'm actually really surprised that I gained 2.5 pounds this week! My doctor told me before I started this weight-loss journey that I wouldn't lose a lot of weight because of my PCOS. I guess he was right! But I do feel good about working out. The thing that needs to happen is that I need to have an eating PLAN. Whether that means making sure I always have healthy and tasty options at home or not eating out or cutting out ice cream or or or.......I just have to make some changes. In fact, when I joined the gym, the sales person told me that dietary changes would make a bigger difference than going to the gym! Guess it's time to throw out the tub of cookie dough that I bought on Tuesday!
GOALS for this week:
- work out 3x
- make low calorie, high protein food choices
- discover a low calorie, low fat ice cream alternative

has joelf told you about the ice cream we've been eating over here at chez no sugar?
it is actually made from coconut milk, so it is non dairy. Hold on, it is actually rich and creamy like real ice cream! it is sweetened with agave syrup, which is lower on the glycemic index which is very important for us PCOS girls to pay attention to. however the ice cream is nice and sweetened.
i love this stuff. i just tried the chocolate last night and it is GOOD.
i have no idea what the caloric intake is, but this stuff may be a great alternative. i think just avoiding sugar and dairy every now and then is a great idea on its own.
way to stay with your program, carlotta. i'm inspired by your determination to keep it up!
"thank you for making better choices!"
Char,
This is more like a letter than a comment, Hope that you don't mind.
I totally understand what you are going through. I also have PCOS. The weight clings to you like glue and it is very difficult to get off. I was only able to take off about 20 to 25 pounds on my own and I would plateau forever.. then gain it all back and then some.
I finally was sent to a Endocrinolgist (Diabetic Doctor) to help manage my PCOS aka Insulin Resistant. I was put on a generic form of Glucophage (Metformin) and then later switched to Avandia. The weight came off much easier (Don't get me wrong I still had to be disciplined and watch my calories and made sure I exercised.
Two years later I finally got pregnant with Riley then eight months later with Ava.
My body had to be at the correct weight to jump start my egg production. God blessed us and he is the one I praise, but I know that I had to do the work too. And.. it is very hard work, but the reward is priceless.
I believe that the same is true for you. I believe you can do the work and you too will be blessed with God's Grace.
Are you on any meds for the PCOS at this point? If you are interested in talking via phone about it further let me know.
Lovingly, Angie
Thank you, Jen and Angie. I'm amazed at how many women have PCOS. I had never heard of it until I was diagnosed a couple of years ago. Your stories are encouraging me to have the discipline and practices I need to get started on my meds again & to change my diet and exercise up. Blessings on you for your honesty!
hi,char.
One good way of getting thru the calories is Measureing, with a one cup, or half cup measurment. it works! I use half cup most of the time, but 1 cup for all salads.
You can do this ! I know, Love,
Your friend, forever. Eileen
